IT’S TIME FOR A NEW SECURITY STRATEGY – PART 3

hacked

The words Malware, Virus and Adware are irritating and scary! I recommend you install a good antivirus program, make sure it also scans for malware and keep it updated for you mobile and desktop computers. Yes even mobile devices get infected. Ask your IT person at work what program they recommend.  But before you buy, use a search engine and search out reviews. These programs will come with a subscription to keep the virus/malware signature up to date. If the program is not up to date your program will not catch the latest infections. Schedule your antiviral software to scan the whole machine.  If you schedule you computer to scan overnight, remember to leave the computer on for scanning.

You can keep you system from being infected by surfing the web defensively.  Suspect every email attachment and web page download.  If you visit a site and you get a strange popup close your browser rather than clicking on a pop-up.  Also be careful with USB flash drives, discs, and drives or anything you attach to your computer. If you are on a local network be careful of shared files.
